Unpacking the Ritual-Spiritual Complex
The ideas of ritual and spiritual strike such seeming polarities as action-thought, pragmatic-esoteric, concrete-abstract. Yet both ideas have somehow come to describe many traditions of dance around the Indian Ocean rim.
For the better part of this century, a culture of ‘scientism’ has systematically undermined the labour-of-ritual, while often engaging the idea-of-spiritual in conceptual conversation, such as those you had with J.Krishnamurti.
